ADVICE ABOUT BUYING A PIANO

Buying a piano is an important purchase. Your child may be starting a musical interest or you may be seeking the special piano you`ve always dreamt of. Choosing a piano, though, is not an easy task and we understand when customers say they just don’t know where to start.

Our commitment is to help you learn more about pianos so you can make a well informed choice. Whether you are just beginning or have played for many years, it makes such a difference when you find the right piano and it is a much safer investment as well.

Unfortunately there can be a lot of pitfalls when you are looking for a piano. There are many old ones which won`t play right or stay in tune and even with new pianos the quality can vary a great deal. What looks like a bargain on an auction site can so easily be full of problems. So don’t take any risks, read our advice first!

COMPARE PIANOS

The most essential thing is to see and try a range of pianos, together in one place, so you can compare different makes, listen to the tones and view the various cabinet styles and colours. We stock up to 50 pianos of the most popular makes, both grand pianos and upright pianos, and we have six individual showrooms where you can relax and take your time to consider the possible options.

PIANO SETUP

To get the best from any piano it needs to be set up well to begin with. As technicians, we are passionate about bringing out the beauty in every instrument. To do this we prepare each piano ourselves here on the premises so that it plays and sounds at its very best. We can even adjust the piano to suit your preferred touch and tone.

It really is amazing how much difference this work can make and it is useful to learn about what is involved. We think this service is one of the most important factors when buying a piano, so do look on this page to find out more.

STARTING TO PLAY THE PIANO

For many of our customers learning the piano is a brand new experience and for a lot of adults it is something they have always wanted to do but never quite had the time. It can be a relaxing and creative interest, and particularly educational for children. Most of all it should be fun, but you do need a reasonable piano to practice on, so we have some extra advice to help you get started.
